Our Trip to Boston...Finally!

We started on the 95 South. Went through NY City and this sign reminded us of everyone in CA living in Rosedale. There is a Rosedale near the Bronx too! Next stop, Amherst, Ma then Salem, Ma then Boston and finally Mystic CT.

We started our trip with the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts. It was fun and Landon had a blast making his art is the art room. Eric Carle was taught to love nature from his father. Then on to the Emily Dickinson House.

We ate at the Black Sheep. This required a little explaining to the kids about what a black sheep is. I told them to look no further than Uncle Bob. They had other ideas, but it had the best chocolate mousse. Mmmmmm!

I am in deep thought as I read Emily Dickinson's poem.

A stop at Salem, Massachusetts gave us a chance to scare Marissa. She does not like the word witch any longer. We stopped at the "Witches House" to see if she had a microwave and we finally found one so I could make the kids their lunch. I had been searching for a microwave all morning. We visited the witch dungeon. We learned all about Tituba, the slave, that started the excitement with the young girls. She was one of the first to be accused and the first to confess. Nobody knows what happened to Tituba because she was not executed and was released from jail or dungeon.

Paul Revere is not so revered in Boston as in the Longfellow poem depicts. They explain him as he was caught on the midnight ride and gave up all information. Well, Paul Revere, I still think your a hero in my idea of the midnight ride. Even though Sam is the only one that made it, he was hangin' out at his girlfriends house that night.
This is the current North Church Tower that Paul Revere hung a lantern aloft.

Our laugh for the day. A black man's license. He said he has it because he is the only black man stationed in Maine. Must be tough? Naw, not any more. It's best to be different in the world today.
Mystic Seaport Museum

Ending it with a stop in Mystic, Connecticut was pituresque. Yes, I said it. I love Mystic. And the pizza was de-lious. The Pizza Parlor shows the movie "Mystic Pizza" continuously. The kids got the "Hobson's" choice or should we say "Mystic Choice" of watching a rated "R" movie. Some parts were quite surprising. Oh my! But, Landon closed his eyes and we enjoyed our pizza. Our dog even agreed by eating all our left overs. I could have killed him. We went to Mystic Seaport Museum and walked on the only whaling boat still around. It will cost a whopping 10 million to retore the boat next year!
